Children's Workshop and 25 years
IPTA Raigarh celebrated its 25th anniversary on 25th May 2006 with a host of events and cultural programmes. The preparations were in the form of a 25-day workshop which concluded on the foundation day. During these 25 days, over 60 children, from 6 years to 19 years took part and produced two group dances, two plays, a kavi-sammelana and one group song.
The special theme for this 15-day event was 'Let's save Water' and all the events were focused on the theme. This event also included a Poster Drafting Competition, after which the posters were displayed as exhibition on the foundation day. Prizes were also given off to deserving children category-wise.
The cultural programmes included a group dance by tiny-tots focusing the importance of water in our life. It was choreographed by Usha Athaley and Kalyani Mukherjee. Another group dance, focusing on water in a jashpuria folk way, which was choreographed by Kavita Shastri, 'Kathak-Visharad' from Nagpur. It was composed by Vikas Tiwari. Furthermore, there was a Kavi-sammelana focusing on Poems by participating children on water and its importance. There was a group song directed by Vinod Bohidar, spreading the message of water conservation through words 'Paani Nahi hai Gaon mein'. There were two plays, 'Paani ka Khel' Directed by Aparna Shrivastava based on two stories and 'Paani kahan ruka hai' Directed by Ajay Athaley which were fully improvised during the workshop without any script.
During these 25 days, Group discussions and improvisations were carried out which focused many burning issues related with water. The ceremony was presided by Dr. A. Girolkar, Principal and Environmentalist. Other dignitaries were Shri Ramkumar Agrawal,Ex-MLA and social activist, Shri O.P. Singh, Founder, Vivekanand School and Shri Mumtaz Bharti, President, IPTA Raigarh.
