'Oh oh yeh hai India!'

Directed by  Mr. Pravin Gunjan
Art Direction by Kumardas T N

The play 'Oh oh yeh hai India' was staged at Polytechnic auditorium on 5th November, 2011. The play was the result of a 30 day long workshop conducted by Pravin Gunjan and his colleague Kumardas T N.

A new and fresh style takes the play to another level. Communalism, Corruption, Hunger, Suicides, Exploitation and the perils for the women constitute to be the strong theme of the play, which puts many undisputed trends to test, including the fad of becoming the super-power and the economic graph of the nation. It takes the viewer on a journey of answering the questions, which we have accepted without giving much thought about, and stresses on the need to break the silence which has been fueling the acceptance of falsely put practices in the country.

This play uses multimedia and other audio-visual aids to put all of these complex ideas in place. The journey of human history, human emotions and poetry take this ideological journey forward into our present, where communcal riots, suicides and many traditions are no longer questionable, because they have become a norm. The play attempts to break this trance and pushes the audience to rethnk and question our ideological stagnancy. Another newness which this play brings with it, is that it does not pretend to answer the questions or provide readymade solutions, but leaves it on the people who are watching it, very much on the lines of the new generation; by using "dot dot dot" to end the discourse. This has been used to comment on our handicap to be able to answer a lot of questions, and it hits at all of us right where it 'should' hurt.
