'Khara Karodpati entertains and then overwhelms you'
The short film, Khara Karodpati, was screened at the Town Hall Ground, at 8:00 PM sharp on the 2nd day of the National Theatre Festival 2012.
The film is about a farmer, who gets selected for the gameshow, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. He goes there but does not reach the 'hot-seat'. Due to utter disappointment and shame, he is forced to live like a recluse, in his own village. The story begins right here and continues to show us what we have long forgotten. The film tries to delve into the simplest of the emotions and how money is really not that important for life. The film is directed by Piyush Thakur, who currently pursues a course in Film Editing from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
The 19 minute film witnessed an audience who was interacting with it in the most novel way. Although the language could have been a barrier, as the film was in Marathi, but a lot of people understood the film point blank. The film will also be screened again on the 14th January at sharp 8:00PM.
The film has been recognised at several festivals around the world, including Germany, France, USA, Malayasia, Nepal and India. It has won the prestigious award for Best Student Film in Gold category at the IDPA awards, among several national honours.
